Lenten Worship
Lent is a very special time in the life of our school as we think of the fasting and temptation of Jesus.
Our theme for Lent 2023 is 'Listening together this Lent'.
During this time, children are invited to volunteer to lead short liturgies each week before school. This is a wonderful opportunity for intimate and reflective worship with children of other age groups and their families.
Each worship is themed around a key part of the Easter story, as we prepare for Jesus' resurrection. We are delighted that over 90 children from Years 1 to 6 have volunteered to lead prayers this year (including Advent prayers too).
The first week of Lent - these children planned and led a worship about Palm Sunday and Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, not as the warrior Messiah that the Jews were anticipating, but the humble, peaceful Son of David
The second week of Lent - Another reverent and thoughtful Lenten prayer session led by our willing volunteers. Today was a focus on Holy Thursday and the cup that Jesus had to bear for us.
